WHAT TO DO HERE IN THE COTSWOLDS

Much to Look Forward to here in the Cotswolds:-

There is so much to look forward to doing here in the Cotswolds during 2018 that I just had to share a few things with you all.  Snowdrop season is upon us so spring is definitely on its way. Lambing live will be happening here on the farm from the 1st of April for three weeks, then the bluebells will be out and spring will definitely have sprung.  We will be having baby calves as well so new life will be appearing everywhere but if you are planning to come and stay this year then be sure to know that there is something to do whatever time of the year you visit.  Here is just a snapshot of what you can do here in the Cotswolds this year but if you are staying at King Johns Cottages then there will be heaps of information on what to do and when and even what to do when it is raining. For example Bourton-on-the-Water alone has many attractions for all the family at all times of the year and in all weathers.

A Brief Monthly Diary:-

February – How about the Puddle Jumping Championships at Slimbridge.  Open to adults and children so get your wellies ready and be transported back to your childhood.

March – Festivals – Music, Literary and of course Cheltenham National Hunt Races there’s something for all the family.  If you love gardens then why not book a visit to the Royal Gardens at Highgrove  for the Talking Gardens from the 20th to 24th of March although you can book a garden tour on other select dates during the year

April – Lambing Live at Langley Farm from the 1st of April for three weeks and also at Adam Hensons Farm Park.

May Giffords Circus starts touring the Cotswolds where they will be at Daylesford this month finishing in September.  The amazing Jousting Tournament at Blenheim Palace takes place in May to mention just one of the many events held at Blenheim throughout the year.

June – The world famous six week long Asparagus Festival held in the Vale of Evesham starts on St Georges day and culminates with the auction on June the 3rd.

July – The month for music festivals, Cornbury, Warwick, Cheltenham, Three Choirs, Battle Proms in fact there are so many that I may have to do a special blog to cover these.

August – BBC Countryfile Live will be taking place again at Blenheim from the 3rd to the 6th of August and it is Rhino Month at the Cotswold Wildlife Park.  On Bank Holiday Monday pure Cotswold madness – Football in the River at Bourton-on-the-Water.

September – The month for country shows, Moreton-in-Marsh Show, Frampton Country Fair and of course Blenheim Palace Horse Trials.

October – Autumn gardens will be at their best especially Batsford and Westonbirt Arboretums and there will be half term fun at local National Trust properties and pumpkin carving for the little ones ready for halloween.

November – The Well Child Christmas Fair usually takes place at Daylesford early in November although they run many events throughout the year.  From the Gallery at King Johns Cottages you will see fireworks everywhere on a clear Bonfire night.

December – Christmas shopping everywhere.
