Straw for this Winter

We have been very busy on the farm, well actually on the estate next door baling straw ready for next winter.  This year has been much easier than last as there was so much straw behind the combine that we were able to bale 1000 round bales in just two and a half fields.  Last year we were literally scraping it off the ground in many fields and only managed 850.  Well done to the manager next door who not only produced a good crop but a fantastic amount of straw.  We also baled lots of large bales and have actually managed to get all of it carted back to the farm in record time.  Yet again we have a mountain of straw, pictures of which can be seen on facebook and twitter.  There will still be more rectangular bales to get but will need to wait for the weather to improve and the combines to roll again.
